A lightweight FR coupe.

Real lightweight, like <1 ton lightweight.

Mega Track was such thing in mid 90's. It did not sell well and only 5 or 6 were made. This thing was huge. It’s ~14 cm wider than the officially widest production car (which is ‘54 Imperial). It was powered by a 400 hp M-B V12.

Muscle Utility Vehicle (MUV...out the way!!)

Imagine this:

Kinja'd!!!

Slam it down on a sport suspension, supercharged V8, Recaros and Brembos, fast steering ratio, and some mean summer performance tires.

Track rat wagon, essentially a street-legal version of this:

Kinja'd!!!

that’s at the extremes of both driving experience and practicality. Interior-wise, simplify and and lightness at all costs, like a less jank version of this Volvo (with a flat floor and integrated cage so you can make that Home Depot run after autocross on Saturday morning) :

Kinja'd!!!

and give it huge sticky tires and flares and super-stiff chassis and suspension, aero, etc like the Canepa CTS-V:

The first Elise had a 1500lb curb weight back in the day using fiberglass and aluminum, makes you wonder if a company could do even better by making something that small again but with entirely carbon fiber construction.

Close, but those are missing the proper fear index. More like this lowered and on Pirellis or Nittos depending on which type of track car you may think of.

Ever hear of the Rally Fighter?

Kinja'd!!!

Still not as cool as a Mega Track though.

My niche car is boring, but a wagon type vehicle (or suv, truck, crossover) with an integrated and removable cargo dolly that can raise up to vehicle height and dock with the cargo area. Like I said, haha, boring

Yeah, exactly what I was thinking. Carbon fiber, 1500-1600lbs, and a K20. Perfect.

poverty spec. think rat-rod, but without the rust, or patina, and unsafe welding . ditching all the “luxury” electronics for mechanical equivalents that do roughly the same thing, if not quite as well(think pop-open sun roof vs fully electric.)....

also heirloom cars. basically cars that are built with higher attention to durability and stronger materials, and a closer attention to final fit and finish. cars that will last long enough that you COULD pass them on to children. cars that eliminate questionable plastics, and use steel. cars that would shift the focus from discard and replace, to fix, repair and mend.

Subcompact, two-door, two-passenger sedans with a distinct 3-box profile. Here I took an early 2000s Mini Cooper, removed a few inches from the wheelbase between the front door and rear wheel, and converted the cargo area into a sedan trunk. It’s rough but you get the idea.

You can’t have a thread with too many Rally Fighter photos in it. And it’s rwd, like many long travel off roaders, because drive shafts/CV joints limit travel. the RF would rather just jump or plow through anything difficult. It has 4" more front travel than the new Raptor.
